Established in 2021 during lockdown, Cuttin' Aboot is made up of eight company members, all of which are performing arts students/recent graduates.
We aim to tell working-class, Glaswegian stories, in a way that is youthful, heartfelt and entertaining. We also believe that theatre should be for everyone, and it is a big part of our mission to make theatre as accessible and affordable as possible.
Our debut show, "CAMH DOWN," was written by company members Emma Arbon, Fallon Docherty and Milly Sweeney. It was inspired by true stories, curated via an anonymous survey about young people's experiences seeking help for their mental health in the UK. The show raised £177.43 for SAMH, Scotland's leading mental health charity, and had a sold out run in the Glasgow city centre. Following this, "CAMH DOWN" was performed at Golden Friendships, a charity based in Dalmuir, in which over a hundred free tickets were given out to the public.
Cuttin' Aboot's most recent project was "The Caravel" by Milly Sweeney. Inspired by her mother's teenage years, "The Caravel" depicts the Glasgow gangster scene in the late eighties/early nineties, through the eyes of a group of teenage girls who are none the wiser. "The Caravel" had a sold out Glasgow run, and was performed again at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023. It received 5 Stars from The Derek Awards, The Student, and was featured in an article from Glasgow World.
